An escapist project focused on the moment of metamorphosis: from a monstrous pupa to a conventionally beautiful butterfly. The works are built from the textures of found materials and materials fabricated by the artist, where surface becomes an event. Layers are composed to invite a tactile “test”- touch and haptic immediacy operate as a mode of persuasion. The project holds the transitional state: when form is not yet obliged to be appealing, yet already rehearses beauty; when the protective shell persists, but begins to function as a decorative skin.
