totem
A project responding to a growing devaluation of information: the abandonment of knowledge and a drift toward magical thinking - a “new Middle Ages.” Abstract totems appear as artifacts of human trust: not evidence, but substitutes for evidence. They condense the need for simple anchors - for symbols that do not explain so much as soothe. The totem becomes an interface of belief: a compact form to which responsibility for meaning is transferred, and whose authority arises not from verifiability, but from ritual, repetition, and collective consent.
